Let’s look at the word definition of deem.
Deem: to consider, decide, think, esteem, feel. To have an opinion, to believe.
Does anyone have a bad opinion about you? Through Christ, that opinion is changed!
Does someone consider you unworthy? In God’s eyes, you are worthy to be loved through the blood of Jesus Christ!
Have you given up on yourself? Well, reconsider your opinion about yourself. If you believe in Jesus Christ you are re-deemed. You are re-considered. You are re-esteemed. An opinion about you is renewed. Even though you can not see it in the natural it is so if you made Jesus Lord of your life.
Jesus was deemed falsely. We will too. We have to grow a thick skin to rise above the oppression of any form and work on focusing our thoughts on the re-deemed state.
Origin and Etymology of deem
Middle English demen, from Old English dēman; akin to Old High German tuomen to judge, Old English dōm doom.
Doom? Without Christ, there is no reconsideration for us. We are set for doom. Without redemption all that’s left is doom. Love redeems us. Only true love is able to redeem. Love reconsiders us. When others decide and say we are not worthy to love, God offered and gave His Son Jesus so whatever others rejected us for is no longer in us.
Do you have low self-esteem? You don’t have to esteem yourself anymore. Jesus esteemed you! If you decide your self-esteem by the opinions of others, you will stay in that pit forever. If you listen to your opinion, then the same is true, you could stay in the pit. Jesus esteemed you as the one worth dying for, with all your weaknesses and wrongs.
Following scriptures show that we are redeemed by Jesus, taken out of the dark past into a new life in Christ:
Galatians 3:13 NKJV
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.
Ephesians 1:7
In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
Isaiah 44:22
I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions,
And like a cloud, your sins.
Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
Psalm 111:9
He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:
Holy and awesome is His name.
Psalm 130:7
O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord, there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
1 Corinthians 1:30
But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption
Lamentations 3:58
O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul;
You have redeemed my life.
One time I was overwhelmed by the situation in my life and I felt like I could not cope emotionally. This situation was bringing me down very low. I asked Father to speak to me and help me. The same day He led me to the teaching by TD Jakes, where he shared something that turned my thinking completely. To the right direction. I realized I was dwelling on the lies.
“Jesus bought the days of your life by His blood.”
If we focus on the wrong and bad things and ignore the sacrifice of Jesus we waste the days bought by the blood of Christ. What a waste! We have to be careful what we “buy” daily. Careful what we exchange a single day for, our time, our thinking.
You are bought out of depression, addictions, out of perversion, out of rejection, out of betrayals, out of wrongs done to you, out of injustice. Yes, those things may still hurt but even the feeling of hurt was paid for as well. It takes time to heal the wounds by applying the healing balm of scripture. Even if you have to experience these things in the natural in your life, you can live in the re-deemed state. It is not easy but it is possible.
Today is the day to live re-deemed because we are. In Christ Jesus we are. Others may look at us one way. Christ looks at us in a different way. His opinion matters the most because His opinion carries the power to transform us within and transform our lives.
